Braving the Wilderness Discussion Group

Join me for a 6 week digital discussion group about Dr. Brené Brown's newest book, Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone. If you're like me, you've been inspired by Brené Brown's work. As I read Brené's work I often find myself wanting to share what I'm learning with others, dive deeper into my own understandings, and process what I'm thinking and feeling. I hope this discussion group can provide that space for you! Each week we will cover another chapter of the Braving the Wilderness. I'll facilitate the group, provide some guiding questions, and additional resources for you to consider. I hope you'll join me!

WHAT YOU'LL GET:

  • 6 weeks of guided group discussion on Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone
  • Weekly check-in emails with additional tips and resources
  • A supportive community of individuals who want to share, discuss, and learn together

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • A computer, tablet or smartphone to access the weekly digital group meetings via google hangouts
  • A copy of Braving the Wilderness by Brené Brown
  • A commitment to weekly reading (1 chapter each week) and weekly group meetings
    • PS. On any given week, if you can't get to the reading, no worries! You can still attend the group meeting!

DETAILS:

  • Weekly group meetings will start on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 and run through Wednesday, January 10, 2018 (we'll take the week off on December 27)
  • The group will meet 6:00PM - 7:00PM PST (8:00PM - 9:00PM CST)
  • Group meetings will take place via Google Hangouts (System Requirements

This sounds great. I am also listening to this book on tape. However, I'm on the East coast and a little out of steam by 9 p.m.

I hope you share back some of the conversations (if others are o.k. with that) to keep the conversation alive here.

Gail:

Is it out ACEs that makes this kind of a book vacation reading for us or are we just awesome? Maybe both. I'm so glad you are so fortified by this book. No one takes on shame as she does, right?  I'm only on chapter 3.

Hi Christine,

I totally understand about the 9pm thing - it's so tough to coordinate across time zones! I will definitely share some of the learning back with the ACEs community - I'll make it a priority to write a post once the group wraps (or in the middle if that ends up making sense)!

HI Kaleigh- I was reading (actually listening to) this book for the 2nd time during my vacation this last week and thinking about how my ACEs play a part in how I am in the world (ie., being a people pleaser, not wanting to stand out or make too much noise , challenge the status quo) and I am being more mindful in my default reactions and why they come up.  I would LOVE to join this conversation but will be on a plane for the first session.  Can i jump in on the 2nd week?

Thanks for sharing with the ACEs Connection community!

Hi Gail! I would love to have you as part of the group and no worries about missing the first week - I think that would be totally fine and I can fill you in on what we talk about before week 2. If you're up for it, I would recommend registering ASAP via this link: Braving the Wilderness Discussion Group. There's only two spots remaining in the group and I've had a few people express interest today! Let me know if you have any additional questions!
