I was very moved by this piece by general internist colleague, Dr. Jeffrey Millstein of Penn Medicine. He shares his sense of humility in realizing he did not truly know his patient because he was not aware of the extent of her trauma history. He also shares that offering his witness and " the landing of my presence" helps to move her process of healing forward.
