April: Child Abuse Prevention Month

Kansas - "As a community, it is important that we unite to prevent child abuse. Research consistently shows that child abuse is a serious problem with physical and emotional health implications. The social and financial costs of child abuse are staggering, but the emotional cost to our children is devastating. All community members can take steps to protect children and reduce the likelihood of child abuse and neglect.  

According to the Strengthening Families website, there are five protective factors that can increase the health and well-being of children and families. These five protective factors include parental resilience, social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, concrete support in times of need and children’s social and emotional development. So how can we ensure these five protective factors are being met?..."
