APA focuses on ACEs in Recent Newsletter

Dr. Sharon Portwood, a valued member of Benchmarks' Partnering for Excellence Leadership Team, is now serving on the American Psychological Association's Committee for Children, Youth, and Families and is helping to raise awareness of ACEs. Dr. Portwood, who also teaches at UNC Charlotte, has opened this recent newsletter with an article on research and policy implications. The newsletter continues by highlighting four different articles regarding ACEs across domains from education to cultural humility.

Here is the link to Dr. Portwood's feature article:  https://www.apa.org/pi/familie...rse-experiences.aspx as well as a link the other articles noted throughout the newsletter: https://www.apa.org/pi/familie...r/2018/11/index.aspx .

The committee plans to continue to focus on ACEs science as well as work that is happening on the community level as it relates to childhood trauma and resiliency.

Thanks Jenny Cooper!

There is so much great work being done in NC. Appreciate you and your passion for the people and the science, and that you are a master communicator/connector.

Thanks for bringing this good news to the entire ACEs Connection community. As Karen Clemmer says, this is a really big deal!

This is a really BIG DEAL! When the American Psychological Association coordinates discussions among various divisions on to ensure ACEs science is successfully translated into practice AND looks at innovative examples of how ACEs science is being applied in various settings - WOW! Jenny - thank you so much for sharing this incredible information! Karen
