Announcing The Mandated Reporting to Community Supporting (MRCS) Task Force Membership!

In case it is of interest to you, please see the message below from the California Department of Social Services, Office of Child Abuse Prevention (CDSS/OCAP):

Dear Child, Family, and Community Well-Being Partners,

The Child Welfare Council (CWC), and the Prevention & Early Intervention (PEI) Committee Co-Chairs, have officially announced the formation of the Mandated Reporting to Community Supporting (MRCS) Task Force, and introduced the MRCS Task Force members—also listed at the end of this announcement.

Over 200 applications were received for the Task Force and/or its subcommittees, from a
diverse and expert group of individuals including a significant number of individuals with lived experience and expertise. Specifically, nearly 20% of applicants were parents, caregivers, youth, and/or others who know our child welfare system from the inside having had personal experiences with foster care or investigations.

Please join the OCAP in congratulating the MRCS Task Force members. The OCAP also invites you to stay involved through myriad ways to shape and advance this work including advisory committees, key informant interviews, listening sessions, and other emerging opportunities. Additionally, the Task Force meetings are intended to be open to the public and the first Task Force meeting will be held on September 18, from 1 – 4pm.

Transformation of this complexity requires that we stay in this together. If you have any questions or are interested in working with the Task Force in some capacity, please contact Beth Kuenstler at info@MRCSTaskForce.org.

Many thanks for your continued support to advance California’s commitment to building communities that keep children and youth safe, and families together.
