Advocates: Rule puts domestic violence victims in danger - Ohio

"A Hamilton County woman wants Ohio law changed to protect victims of domestic violence.

"Andrea Metil, 29, and anti-domestic violence advocates are urging the Ohio legislature to change the requirement for abusers to be physically served with a protection order before they can be accused of violating the order....

"The Ohio Domestic Violence Network is urging lawmakers to change the law to allow “actual notice” of protection orders, meaning the defendant could be told about the order or served with a paper notice. The network also wants to make it so that law enforcement officers who respond to an alleged violation are able to serve the defendants."
