ACEs Op-Ed in Washington Post

Washington Post Publishes ACEs Op-Ed by ASTHO Staffer

The Washington Post has published an editorial article by ASTHO Senior Editor of Communications and Social Media Virgie Townsend. In the op-ed, Townsend discusses growing up with domestic violence, how those adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) affected her health and academics, data on the impacts of ACEs, and the need for better prevention and intervention services to mitigate repercussions from ACEs. The article is available online now, and was featured in the newspaper on Jan. 4. For more information from ASTHO, please visit ASTHO's Preventing Violence Against Children and Youth web page.

Lynn, thank you so much for your post about your colleague's article in the Washington Post with a link to ASTHO's Preventing Violence Against Children and Youth web page.  The piece by Virgie Townsend was insightful, compelling and inspiring.  I am so grateful for coverage such as this in my hometown paper and the timing was perfect as Congress returns this week to take up the nation's business.
