ACE article, Published in Elephant Journal (as part of a book I'm co-authoring)

How could there be a test that indicates early mortality, 19 years early, and I’ve never heard of it?

I’m into health, have avoided red meat for 30 years, drink lots of water, floss, do yoga and take vitamins.

I’m a reader and writer into healing and wellness. I’ve been to doctors, nurses, therapists, yoga teacher and chiropractors.

Surely, if there’s a test to assess risk of dying 19 years early, on average, wouldn’t I have heard of it?

Well there is and I hadn’t.

It’s the ACE test.

To read rest of article (click link, but honestly, for this audience, it's not news anymore).

P.S.

I'm SO EXCITED TO BE HELPING OTHERS LEARN ABOUT ACE-RELATED RESEARCH AND RESOURCES (like this one)!!!!   Cissy

Hi Tina,

I am shocked as well. I am interviewing my nurse practitioner who is at a functional medicine practice. She didn't know about the ACE test but she was open to learning about and already takes seriously the toxic impact of childhood stress. She did in fact test my C-Reactive Protein and it was indeed high. I'm on some anti-inflammatory for that and do an amount of yoga and free writing that honestly, if not for the ACE test and my high score, I would not be able to justify taking the time to do. The ACE test helped me realize I MUST prioritize self=care as an active way to counter a shorter life span,

I agree - it's going to have to be grounds up. And look how long it took for yoga to be more mainstream. It's not exactly new but the more popular it gets the more it gets to more people. It can take a really long time but all the varied efforts are great. I love learning about what others are doing too.

You can use your zafu for extra weight too - if you like. I do

Great article Cissy.... But .... Um..... Really sad no one knows about it.....

I'm pretty dumbfounded......

Makes me embarrassed to be a doc.....

I didn't go to a great medical school.....

No matter how great it thinks it is.......

This is devastating for the medical establishment.....

Maybe that is why they don't want to know.......

Urghhhh

(Sorry--- but I got a Zafu today - very helpful for sitting meditation  - learned about this thing from your weighted meditation cushion post)

And I am glad you are educating the lay folks (or even docs) this seems to need to be a community, grounds up effort.

Thanks Tina....

My guess is keeping your hs-CPR - High Sensitivity C- Reactive Protein down will be beneficial ----
