A new ACE for future generations?

Genetically modified humans. Yes, scientists and entrepreneurs are pushing for FDA approval of research that would create babies with 3 biologically-related parents. The genetic traits would be handed down from one generation to the next. While aimed at healing now, this research can lead to genetic enhancement -- we'll have some humans with special traits, even characteristics chosen from other animals (such as infrared vision). Parent leaders Enola Aird and Peggy O'Mara have alerted us to this concern--one of their worries is the loss of our sense of a shared humanity.

Up to now, there has been an international ban on such procedures.
