A few changes in the mandatory reporting law affect teachers, school personnel - Alabama

"Anyone who has knowledge of alleged child or sexual abuse and is a mandatory reporter is now legally responsible for notifying authorities....

“Teachers would usually go to the principal or guidance counselor,” Falcon said. “Now they are responsible for reporting the abuse or neglect to authorities. The law is just more spelled out.”

"Postsecondary and higher education institutions have been added to the law, Falcon said, as well as employees of both public and private K-12 schools...."
