4 Techniques for Dealing With Panic Attacks [HuffintonPost.com]

Your chest is tight, your breathing is shallow, you might feel dizzy, tingly, or "other worldly".

You're asking yourself "Am I going crazy? Am I dying?"

The answer to both of those questions is "No".

I know from experience. My anxiety was so bad that I was in constant fear of catastrophe and death. I did everything I was told to do to make it better: counseling, medication, breathing.

Nothing worked. That is, until I started experimenting on myself to find solutions that worked for me.

I found that unless someone else had personal experience with panic attacks, they weren't able to help me through mine.

These techniques are based on my own personal experience on getting through panic. They are part of a process that helped me go from being trapped in my apartment and constantly afraid of dying, to selling my belongings and traveling the world.

The techniques below are not easy. They are not a passive way of overcoming panic like "just breathe." These steps require work. But it's work that will pay off. (At least it did for me.)
