Resources 4 Resilience (www.r4r.support) & Commentary

We have the best community. And it feels like a community even more right now when things are scary, threatening, and uncertain. Yesterday,  shared an amazing resource yesterday, by way of a comment, that's great for parents, survivors, providers, and families (all of us).

I am making it a blog post in case others missed it or are overwhelmed, as I have been, by sifting through the information coming at us.

If love to suggest some resources to you from our Humanitarian Committee, for use in self-regulation and co-regulation. Here is the site, which includes a helpful QuickStart brochure as well as how-to videos and even a PowerPoint and tutorial for offering helpful, informative presentations to your community or group. We hope to be of service to you, as all of us work in this TIC, trauma release arena.  Our Resources for Resilience portal is here:  www.R4R.support

The home page lets you easily find practices for calming. Here's one example of one practice for those feeling scared or anxious. The video plays on he left and there's accompanying graphics and instructions on the right (also available as a download).

Please keep sharing resources in comments, in blog posts, in our calendar of events if you can as well as with our ACEs Connection team.

@Jane Stevens has been having 'Better Normal; brainstorming and sharing sessions. There's one today, Friday, 3/27/20. Click here to join at 12pm PDT. That is one place for sharing space, questions, stories, and resources.

Next week, along with all we're sharing on the ACEs Connection home page, we will have COVID-19 resources to share in three of our interest-based communities, as which. All of them are open to everyone:

ACES in Education: We share ideas, information and stories about mitigating the effects of adverse childhood experiences in the K-12 environment.

Parenting with ACEs How do we honor both lived & learned expertise to break down barriers between parents & professionals? How do ACE-impacted families best access healing, hope & health? How might parent education, training, & support services if co-created with families & in community?

Practicing Resilience for Self-Care & Healing β€œWe have the capacity, within ourselves, to create better health," writes Donna Jackson Nakazawa. We can improve our health no matter what our ACE score. Learn resilience practices that reduce stress hormones in our bodies & brains. Understand how pain, shame & trauma make self-healing harder. Explore research & resources. Share stories, struggles & successes.

To add to those resources, please contact Lara Kain  at lkain@acesconnection and Cissy White (ACEs Connection Staff) at cwhite@acesconnection.com or leave a comment, like Jondi did. There's so many great resources being shared and we want to capture them in ways that make it easy to find and use them going forward. Thanks for sharing and caring!

I’m so happy you shared this, and truly appreciate the opportunity to spread the word to more practitioners, caregivers and helpers.
thank you!
If there is interest, I will happily offer a Zoom event to talk more about the R4R site and offerings, as well as the Compassion In Action: Emotional First-Aid for Children handbook.
We’re all in this together.  Best, Jondi
