We developed The Basics as a half-day session to provide the foundation to support trauma-informed and resilience practices across sectors and industries. The session includes an overview of the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study, the neurobiology of toxic stress, the impact of social and historical trauma, and the science of resilience. Thank you Jane for sharing this. I oversee 21 before and after school programs in San Diego. Our target population is low-income and single parent homes. Every year the number of our children who have already experienced neglect, domestic violence, gangs, and substance abuse in the home continues to grow. We try to offer resources to the families when we notice behaviors and unfortunately, as this article points out, it costs money for these families, and they simply can't afford them, or...

Thanks Amy! So glad that you and Rosa Anna are there. I find that often, at conferences such as the one you describe, I am the one who can help bridge and make the specific connections to ACEs and resilience. This can lead to the beginning of new alliances with sectors like early childhood education which in turn helps grow the movement for just, healthy and resilient communities.
