Hi, Everyone --
Has anyone heard about if/how the U.S. military is integrating ACEs into base life, either with families or soldiers? Or in schools on bases? Or healthcare? Any sector within the military?
Cheers, Jane

I would bet my diploma that those scoring high on ACE are way more prone to PTSD. Would make an interesting and vital study. "ACE and PTSD" Would the Military want to know that before deploying their soldiers? Uhmmm...

Hi, Jay: Yes, your bet is right on. There have been several studies that show that soldiers with high ACE scores have a greater incidence of PTSD.
I'm not sure what the military is doing with the info. The TI approach would be to provide appropriate services.
Cheers, J.
Hi Jane,
I worked for Child and Youth Services, DoD in Germany 2003-2005. I worked out of an army base in Garmish, Bavaria and was the Teen Centre Coordinator.
The CYS worked quite hard to make life as consistent as possible for the kids, and teen centres like mine were designed to be a predictable constant. We ran a lot of recreational programs but did a lot of personal development programming too, and also ran BGCA , Keystone and 4H clubs so they had familiar things to click into on a new base.
In 2005 or so we worked to develop a camp for children of soldiers who had deployed called Operation Purple Camp. It looks like this camp is still running.

Operation Purple Camp (National Military Family Association)
Operation Purple camps offer a free week of summer fun for military kids with parents who have been, are currently, or will be deployed. The goal of the Operation Purple camp program is to give military children tools to help deal with the stresses that result from a parentâs deployment, through a memorable camp experience in a âpurpleâ environment. Operation Purple camps are open to military children of all ranks and services: active and reserve componentsâand give priority to children whose parents are in a deployment phase.

Hope this gives you some leads
