Many nurses haven't had the opportunity to look at the racism within their culture. The numbers of persons in other than "white" skin is unusual so they just never think about it. When it happens it often is the result of a patient's comment. I had the opportunity to get involved within hospital units to help the person of color to become a primary provider! It works but shouldn't be happening in these times! JCH
