HiΒ Jeff, I wasn't searching YT specifically. It did comeΒ up in my search results the other day and it happened to beΒ fromΒ YouTube. When I watched it I was reminded of this news story:
Why Is a Defense Contractor Paying for Sesame Street's Parents-in-Jail Lesson?
The for-profit, prison-industrial complex is just disgusting. I wish more folks would become aware of it and the institutionalized racism against African-Americans. The United States has both the world's largest prison population, and the world's highest per capita incarceration rate.[1]Β Nearly half of those incarcerated in the U.S. are there because they violated drug prohibition laws.Β I needn't tell you the connection betw drugs, poverty, and ACEs. What I find really sadΒ isΒ the Wisconsin ACE community (67 mins in) has partnered w/ Sesame Street in the aforementionedΒ venture.
Not only that but prosecutors take advantage of youth because they know that they do not have the knowledge to make sure their rights are not violated. They offer plea deals as a way of securing a conviction with the threat of decades of incarceration if they opt to take their case to trial !!! For youth suffering from trauma they are vulnerable and afraid and often concede even though they are not guilty !!! Β Β
