Reply to "What If?"

ACEs should definitely have stake in that conversation, but what i am reading sounds like it could also be a gap in parental knowledge  and child development and parental resiliency with how they were brought up.  While ACEs should be a topic of discussion, look and see if locally there is a Trainer in Strengthening Families Framework which has goals of Strengthened Families, Optimal Child Development, and Reduced Likelihood of Child Abuse and Neglect.  The Framework is more of a "whole picture" look. 

And don't stop the conversation once the local officials go away, discuss how many other factors this ideology could be impacting and benefiting the whole community. For example, when families have the support and connections needed to flourish, a parent is less likely to call into work sick, thus making small changes to businesses and the local economy. Be heard! What I have found often times is at a local level, people are more reluctant to listen to someone they know so maybe it would be worth a shot to hire and bring in a facilitator or trainer.
