Trauma Informed (Sensitive) Practices - Practical to Impoverished Rural Communities

I’m in a rural community with few to zero resources to heal trauma (and little to no money) – so we are looking at alternative methods that would be helpful for our rural area that we can include with the schools, 4-H, and other rural activities for traumatized kids (including those involved in the juvenile justice system).

I was thinking that ----These areas would be helpful… As we have these resources….but we need information on how to make them trauma-informed (sensitive)

  1. Trauma Drama.
  2. Pet Therapy – we have lots of folks with horses and other farm animals.
  3. Therapeutic Dance and Arts.

I am looking to involve our community in these activities because our community does realize that we are in a crisis. Our community wants to assist….

Do you have research papers, knowledge of programs, etc. that might be helpful for rural areas? Any and all information is appreciated…

Thanks a Bunch,

Dr. Hahn
