Reply to "Trauma informed approaches to reducing the use of restraint and seclusion"

Fiona,

Thank you for this information and for the work you are doing to address the problem of the use of seclusion and restraint. We are working to address this issue in Ohio- in fact we have been at it for about 9 years now. We have made very little progress in spite of a commitment made by the current and past 2 governors and their administrations to address the problem, and in spite of the support of 23 advocacy and professional organizations in our state.

You can find more information about our efforts here:

www.ashlandmhrb.org. (Look on the right side about halfway down the page for the Hope for Faith Advocacy Toolkit).

or a direct link to the toolkit at:

http://kdanielsmhrb.squarespace.com/storage/Hope%20for%20Faith%20Advocacy%20Toolkit.pdf

Our task force is a persistent group in spite of our inability to effect the necessary changes. We will not stop until the issue is sufficiently addressed.

Best wishes to you and your colleagues as we all seek to prevent the re-traumatization of those we are responsible for helping. I look forward to exploring your website and the resources you offer.

Steve Stone
