Eric, I forgot to mention I loved your piece! One thing I would mention is that I would emphasize that mental health care access needs to be "trauma-informed." The majority of mental health care is operating without using a trauma-informed approach. Without TIC (trauma-informed care) more damage to the individual is often the result. SAMHSA is doing a lot of work on trying to disseminate this information. They state:

"Trauma-informed organizations, programs, and services are based on an understanding of the vulnerabilities or triggers of trauma survivors that traditional service delivery approaches may exacerbate, so that these services and programs can be more supportive and avoid re-traumatization."
