Summer reading lists for boys and girls

Hi everyone --

I am an Alaska-based journalist working on a story about great summer reads (for the K-7 crowd) which promote resilience and social-emotional-learning. I'm envisioning anything from old classics that play to this theme, or new literature targeting it directly. I'm not looking to bore our poor kiddos to death, but I'd love to create a good working list of fun, exciting reads that will deliver positive messaging along the way. Any recommendations?
