Many people deny these problems because they may have their own mental wounds that they have compartmentalized off in their psyche. Blaming victims is another way for survivors in denial to find control in "their reality." It's a depressing part of the advocacy reality that we will run into folks like this and, no doubt, get retraumatized by their own emotionally abusive defenses.
