The area I focus on is secondary trauma and staff wellness, which I believe are key (though often overlooked) subjects to address when promoting and sustaining successful Trauma Informed Care and Educational Services. Hi Vic,
First off . . . wow. I just watched your film trailer on the website. Tears fell as I related to some of those testimonials. I worked for a mental health agency in school settings and found myself calling my own children on my way home from work some days, crying and expressing my overwhelming love for them. The toll on me emotionally, having just started to cipher through my own trauma-history and coming to an understanding of my C-PTSD diagnosis, was more difficult than I had anticipated as I encountered trauma realities happening in the student's lives. Thankfully, a few team members (in management and peers) were supportive and knowledgeable in trauma-informed approaches and helped me learn positive coping mechanisms.
