Katrice, Jonathan Shay's book, "Achilles In Vietnam: ...", addresses "Cohesive Narrative on pages 180-181, after he noted "the trustworthiness of language" on page 39. Shay resides in the Boston area, and hopefully you may be able to confer with him-while you're in Boston. Please excuse my brevity in this comment.
