Findings from the First Ever National Survey of Juveniles in Custody

The first-ever national survey of youth in juvenile custody found that 30% of confined young people had experienced sexual, physical, or emotional abuse, 67% had seen someone killed or severely injured, and 70% reported that something bad or terrible had happened to them. Only 15% reported no trauma incidents in their past.
