Reply to "Conference presenter suggestions-work session for judges & lawyers-trauma informed"

Hello Tina,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I definitely agree that the ACE study is the "hook" for trauma informed engagement. Everyone, even lawyers, can relate to it.

Over the past two years, we have done about 20 ACEs presentations throughout the community, but not specifically for attorneys. We are a rural county and there is no reason we can't get in the door of one our local bar association meetings to present. I'd like to think there is a reason we haven't pursued that other than time.

For our conference, we will offer continuing legal education units. The plan is that our first plenary session will include an ACEs and childhood trauma overview. In the afternoon we will have a work session for the bench and bar on how trauma informed practices make sense for them.

An ACEs presentation for the legal community in advance of the conference will stir up some interest that can be reinforced at the conference. Thank you for reminding me not to forget the basics! Thanks too for the offer to share the slides.
