Good morning,
In case any of these might help!
- Here are two pieces from the Chicago Tribune:
- "Durbin, Davis to introduce anti-violence bill to address childhood trauma" quotes Colleen Cicchetti, executive director of the Center for Childhood Resilience at the Children's Hospital of Chicago
- "A bill to help kids suffering from trauma," an opinion piece from Sen. Dick Durbin and Rep. Danny Davis
- National Association of Counties: "Senate introduces bill to tackle childhood trauma," a blog entry by Eryn Hurley, Associate Legislative Director – Human Services and Education
- Chicago Sun-Times: "Durbin, Davis unveil plan to help kids stressed by violence" quotes Dr. Selwyn Rogers
- Endorsements for the Trauma-Informed Care for Children and Families Act (potential points of contact?)
- Congressional briefing videos:
- From December "Public Policies to Improve Coordination, Prevention, and Response to Childhood Trauma"
- From May: "Congressional Briefing: The Need to Address Childhood Trauma" (need to skip ahead quite a bit before it actually starts)
Of course, I'm feeling incredibly distraught thinking about the the currently proposed "replacement healthcare" plan in the Senate - I would imagine that the outcome of that critical vote (potentially this week) will provide important context for this bill and potential considerations/revisions.
(And speaking of that, a friendly reminder to PLEASE CALL YOUR SENATORS TODAY re: healthcare! I've been using 5calls.org to track my calls and use as a springboard for formulating my comments.)
With thanks for all the amazing work of this community,
Alexis
