Reply to "ACE's Powerpoint an/or Recorded Presentation"

Hi Elaine,

I just did a webinar training for Strategies 2.0 in Northern CA (child abuse prevention) --the post is on today's headlines. My perspective is looking at homes where IPV is occurring and recognizing many of the children in that home will have an ACE score of 4+ based on dynamics present when IPV is occurring (drug/alcohol abuse by 1 or both parents; physical/emotional abuse; incarceration; in addition to the violence). Moreover, most their parents have a significant ACE score as well (see Resolutions posted by Jane Stevens-2 days ago).

Prior to the training, we had the attendees watch the TED talk with Dr. Nadine Burke-Harris.  At the training we engaged in discussions about identifying the ACE score of not only the children, but also their parents.  Since my work centers on working with those who perpetrate DV, we talked about enhancing strategies to stop the violence and hold the offender accountable thru rehabilitative measures which include trauma-informed care.

Dr. Burke's presentation is very helpful in realizing the intergenerational impact of trauma.  The link from Strategies 2.0 might have some useful information for you to incorporate into your presentation. Hope your presentation goes well!
