There are more 16- to 24-year-olds not working or in school in San Diego than you might think (sandiegouniontribune.com)
There are 43,210 young people between the ages of 16 to 24 who are not in school or working in San Diego County, says a new report by the San Diego Workforce Partnership. The report, based on an analysis of the 2015 American Community Survey, shows almost 10 percent of the county’s youth are “disconnected” from school or work. Free Community College Tuition Offered to All San Diego High School Graduates (timesofsandiego.com)
All San Diego high school graduates who are first-time college students can receive free community college tuition under an expansion of the San Diego Promise Program announced Monday. “We’re announcing the ultimate expansion of our program,” said Constance Carroll, chancellor of the San Diego Community College District . “A college education is key to economic advancement.” The district estimates that as many as 3,500 students may be eligible for the program in the 2018-2019 academic year.
