In attendance: (alphabetical) Mary Brogdon, Marguerite Bonnett, Kathy Brous, Dana Brown, Marlene Sanders         

  • Share highlight of your role with OC ACEs Task Force in 2016

          - Share how you’re feeling in your heart of your journey as a community leader

Marguerite: Her highlight was the Resilience screening in SD.

Mary: Her understanding of ACEs continues to grow. Has recently volunteered to be a grievance counselor at her church.

Kathy: Grateful for group, since she is new to OC,

Dana: Having all of us in her life, through the ACEs Connection Network.

Marlene: Grateful to have the opportunity to learn more about ACEs, and integrate into her education in school psychology. 

  • Participatory Decision Making Process

Climate of round tables, equity in voice, everyone's voice matters. If someone isn’t feeling safe; how do we protect that space? How do we create a sanctuary?

Convergence/divergence: taking a break and getting some fresh air and support moving through any discomfort or creative tension with group.

Co-creating a strategic action plan.

Welcoming committee for new members with task force. 

  • Develop Shared Understandings

To create a safe space, our Shared Understandings are:

-          Treat others with kindness

-          Respect others opinions

-          Listen with empathy without interruption

-          Share from your heart

-          We welcome new members whom find this platform to be inspirational and have a desire and willingness to contribute.

-          Guests welcome and brief introduction/check-in/invite new members to co-create in their area of strength/choice

-          Have courage and be kind. 

  • Education Committee Work Group

Resilience: Friday November 18th, 2016 7:00- 9:00 pm

          Center for Spiritual Living, San Clemente

-  Share out of three small groups dialog following screening

    * Kathy shared her group’s highlights were meeting Debbie Shapiro and Nancy Martonelli who are vested in the education sector in Oceanside. They are connected with the Superintendent of Schools, Navy Director, with Camp Pendleton. Additionally, Dr. Heather, Reverend Patti and Reverend Bruce of Center for Spiritual Living are interested in creating a Parent Engagement on-going opportunity with their Center. Our task force will be instrumental as their community partner supporting the expansion of Center for Spiritual Living’s trauma informed - resilience building with the community.           * Mary shared of her group with Connie Hornyak, a teacher from San Juan reflected on their challenges with supporting their students and their own/peers journey of self-compassion and self-care with other individuals reflecting on what the screening meant to them. Marlene will send a link to a recent Futures Without Violence webinar posted on ACEs Connection on Compassion Fatigue & Self-Care.

 * Dana and Marguerite shared of their group, with representation from the education sector and literary field, reflecting on myriad aspects of Resilience and their personal and/or professional narratives of how critically imperative we support the resilience building of individuals and communities. Marguerite reflected on wearing her safety pin and this history of the safety pin movement in WWII and hiding a Jewish individual or family.

  • CSLCV & Trauma-Informing Capistrano Valley

-  Possibilities of Parent Engagement on ACEs sciences with Center for Spiritual Living

  • Leaders - Kathy Brous and Mary Brogdon

Mary invited team members to join her on 1/23 to meet with Dr. Heather and Reverend Pattie for the first dialog on Parent Engagement and expansion of the Center’s trauma informed - resilience building community expansion. Marguerite will be joining Mary. 

  • Paper Tigers Screening with InSpirit Center for Spiritual Living, Mission Viejo

          - Leader - Marguerite Bonnett

Marguerite will have a conversation with her center regarding screenings with Resilience first and later, Paper Tigers. Marguerite will request during the meeting a date and collaboration. This will be on our Agenda for our February meeting. Mary inquired if Resilience was available through Spiritual Cinema. 

  • Donations

          -  Lift Up America, 501(c)3, consideration as Fiscal Agent 

  • New members on Orange County ACEs Task Force

          - Welcoming new members to our leadership team.

We will develop our New Members Orientation as we evolve as a task force and more individuals join our leadership team. Marlene will send welcome message to all new members, along with our OCATF brochure, and a private message the day before the meeting. We will add to our monthly agenda our closing item as; Guests Share Thoughts of Meeting.

  • Trainings/Presentations/Workshops with Leadership Team

          - Discernment on development of slideshows, etc.

          - Subject Matter Experts, ACEs sciences, ACEs 101, etc. 

ACTION ITEMS:

  • Marlene will send link to our task force of Futures Without Violence webinar on Compassion Fatigue & Self Care
  • Marlene will update our OCATF brochure with the new date / time / location of our 2017 meeting schedule, include RSVP to (location) with Mary Brogdon’s name and number, denote stating “Trauma Info” to security gate individual and include the language “This is not a support group.”.
  • Once brochure is updated, Marlene will post as a resource on our Orange County group.
  • Mary will share the Institute for Brain Potential (IBP) video from her Nursing CEU’s.
  • Dana will update the monthly agenda template to include: (beginning) Welcome Check-in: Brief Introductions (end) Guests Share Thoughts of Meeting.
