Orange County’s “Healing Childhood Trauma!”            
4th Meeting: August 17, 2016

Attendees: (alphabetical) Mary Brogdon, Kathy Brous, Dana Brown, Connie Hornyak, Joanie Laidley, Elynn Light, Marlene Sanders.

 

  • Welcome & Introductions We are all grateful for Betsy Starkweather graciously reserving our meeting space. Dana Brown, warmly welcomed attendees and invited them to share what they are passionate about changing in Orange County.

  • Brief overview of intention and purpose of meeting

         - Updates from July 20th meeting.
          - Mary Brogdon shared about her Center for Spiritual Living (of which she
          is a member), located in San Clemente, interest in hosting a screening  
          of Paper Tigers. Seating 200, Mary shared her Center leaders are excited
         about the possibilities. An in depth dialog ensued about the sectors we
           could invite, who has connections within those sectors, what our
           outcomes could be, and everyone is looking forward to supporting        
           Mary’s gracious invitation on next steps.

  • Roadmap to Resilience

          - Dana Brown shared the Roadmap to Resilience graphic and honored
           the attendees of their momentum and traction they’re spearheading.
          Inviting our group to share their lens on our title, (Steering Committee,
           Task Force, Guide Team, etc.) group consensus was reached.

         - The Group has chosen the title of: Orange County ACEs Task Force
         
 (OCATF).

  • Education Committee Work Group

          - We will continue further discussion at next meeting.

  • Community Engagement Work Group

          - The Group has created momentum with the first step of 
          organizing plural and multi-location screening of Paper Tigers followed
           by the RESILIENCE documentary.

  • Orange County banner on ACEs Connection

         - Marlene Sanders shared her beautiful photo slide show for team’s
           discernment of locations around Orange County. Consensus
          was reached on our Orange County ACEs Task Force banner with a
           stunning sunset and a collage of many photos which Marlene created
           into a “heart” shape.

  • ACEs Connection – Tutorial

          - Wanting to ensure time for an overview of Action Steps for our
          September meeting on planning for our Paper Tigers / RESILIENCE
           screenings, we did not have an ACEs Connection tutorial and will do at
           an upcoming meeting.

  • Next Action Steps

         - Group vote on having a meeting in December.

         - Inviting each member to share a topic of their interest and do a
           search on ACEs Connection to build capacity on the available tools and
          resources. To be facilitated by Marlene.

         - The Group will decide on Paper Tiger screenings locations; the day(s) of
         the screenings; break-out sessions, inviting Task Force members as a
           facilitator for each break-out session, and the Focus Questions of the
          break-out sessions, such as: “What is community trauma?” and  “What is
           community healing?”.
