Cleveland area ACE initiatives?

Hi all,

I was born and raised in Cleveland and recently returned to the area after living Philadelphia for 4 years while working on my doctorate at UPenn. I studied clinical social work and complex trauma in children.  I was involved in some trauma-informed initiatives in Philadelphia, and am wondering what sort of opportunities exist in Cleveland?  Anyone doing ACE-based work in the area?

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer- Last year the Ohio Dept. Of Mental Health and Addiction Services renewed a committment to fostering trauma-informed care in Ohio. Consequently, they are working to establish a statewide network with regional groups to accomplish their goal. A second statewide conference is being planned for this spring (June?), and other activities are underway. If you would like more information about this, please contact Kim Kehl at OMHAS- he is the state cooridinator: Kim.kehl@mha.ohio.gov.  Best,  Steve Stone

Hi Jennifer,

Welcome back to Ohio. At our agency are collecting ACE data on all of our clients and pouring many resources into becoming trauma informed. We are certified in the NMT approach and have an initiative to reduce physical restraints. We have become passionate about educating others about trauma and it’ impact. Check out our website and click on the “challenge” and “our approach” tabs.
