ACEs House Presentation On Wednesday, February 4, 2015, a panel presented to the Iowa House Human Resources Committee. Organized by the Iowa ACEs advocacy coalition, the presentation focused on an overview of adverse childhood experiences and the strength of public/private partnerships in this work in Iowa, the science of a child's developing brain and how it is impacted by trauma, and support for evidence-based programs in Iowa already finding success. Panel presenters included:

Suzanne Mineck: President, Mid-Iowa Health Foundation
Dr. Amy Shriver: Pediatrican, Blank Children's Hospital
Anne Starr: CEO, Orchard Place

So far this session, we have been focused on the committees that oversee health and human services programs and appropriations. We have been fortunate to be invited to present by the chairs of each of these committees, after sharing information with the chairs and legislative staff leading up to session. This work has been led by our policy co-chairs, and they continue to educate throughout the session. We also hope to interact more with the education committees as well.
