Help our public radio station with a story: How did separation from your parents as a child impact you?

Laura Klivans ·
KQED is the National Public Radio affiliate in San Francisco, CA. We’d like to hear from adults (18+) who were separated from their parents when they were children. Perhaps the separation was due to economic reasons, war and conflict, incarceration, foster care, or something else. How did that period of separation impact you in the long-run? How has it impacted your connection to others and how you build relationships? If you're a parent, how does it influence how you parent? We’re...

Hello: I'm a recent MPH graduate who is interested in working on ACEs. The more I learn about the effects of trauma and chronic stress, the more it changes my worldview and makes me want to do something about it. Part of the reason why I moved to California in 2019 was to get involved in the incredible work that you're doing around ACEs. I'm currently living in Sacramento and working in contact tracing, but would appreciate any advice that you can offer to help me find a career path in the...

Re: Anyone using MHSA or other funds in innovative ways to address ACEs or trauma?

Kay Reed ·
Mind Matters: Overcoming Adversity and Building Resilience was added to the Los Angeles Department of Mental Health Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) list in May. Being on the list allows contractors in LA County to use MHSA funds to purchase the program materials when working with their populations to address trauma and reduce toxic stress. LADMH had previously included Love Notes on their PEI list as well.
