Karen Clemmer ·
Question: Please share examples of innovative uses of existing funding to address ACEs and trauma. For example, Mental Health Services Act has a funding category called "Innovative Projects" which might be a way to fund ACEs and trauma related efforts. Are you aware of any CA communities that have found ways to utilize MHSA or other funds in unexpected ways - that have the potential of addressing trauma and ACEs? Mind Matters: Overcoming Adversity and Building Resilience was added to the Los Angeles Department of Mental Health Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) list in May. Being on the list allows contractors in LA County to use MHSA funds to purchase the program materials when working with their populations to address trauma and reduce toxic stress. LADMH had previously included Love Notes on their PEI list as well.
