Donna Jackson Nakazawa's new course comes just in time to soothe our minds and bodies

With the stressors that have mounted in the United States over the last year, the course, "Your Healing Narrative: Write-to-Heal with Neural Re-Narrating", offered an oasis in the storm. I was fortunate to get a sneak peek last month, and think it's the bees' knees for what ails us, which is STRESS, STRESS, STRESS.

Those of us in the ACEs community understand that our childhood trauma can magnify stress and/or reveal stressors that we've never thought about until they spring out of our consciousness like angry ghosts. And as stress in our environment increases, so does the stress and the ghosts.

Donna has built on 30 years of experience — and seven books — to develop the course, which is based in the science of childhood adversity. Basically, the course helps people recognize old thought patterns, develop healthier responses and create a healing narrative. It does this thoroughly, calmly and with compassion by combining writing exercises with mind-body techniques, all based on the latest neuroscience.

The eight lessons with more than 100 activities, eight hours of content, including 12 instructional videos and 10 meditation and breathing exercises, are woven seamlessly into a comprehensive course. There's also a private Facebook group.

This is what I sent Donna after I finished the course: "It's brilliant. It will help people release the inner struggles that can block them from living a fulfilling life."

The course sheds new insights into how traumatic stressors get stuck in the body and nervous system, and how they affect people's lives. It's worth taking, especially during these times.
