For my masters I looked at the relationship between preschool teachers’ level of education and expulsion rates—quite interesting and the results were not surprising. Your proposed project sounds really interesting. I just saw an article, I think in the ACEs Research community, on teachers’ perceptions of discipline and their ACE scores.

That sounds excellent! I don't know of formal research, but I use Mentimeter in my trainings to compare and contrast the groups ACE scores with Resilience scores. Not surprising, our graduate school counseling students had high ACE and high resilience. I was a little surprised that my district teachers/staff group actually had a lower than average ACE scores. Leisa, You may want to take a look at the Research section/ #5 Other ACE studies/surveys in our Resource Center . Many of the resources listed include questions. You may want to first look at the Lincoln High School Annual Survey (incls ACE questions ) - Lincoln High School, Walla Walla, Washington. AC member Jim Sporleder could answer any questions you have on that survey since he is the principal.

Lee ~ You hit on a key point. No one should be surprised that we don't "punish" the students. We use a restorative justice model to teach students how their actions/behaviors impact the community as a whole. It's time intensive, but it has helped prevent suspensions and expulsions, which has helped create stability in the lives of our students. Hi Dominic, I am happy to share our intake survey. I am attaching two documents. The word document is the one that we have all students fill out. We also have the Risk Assessment Survey questions as a separate document (PDF) in case a student does not feel comfortable answering the questions with their name on document. We have recently converted this document to a "google form" so that students can fill it out electronically. All of our students are assigned a chromebook during orientation.

ACE Scores of Educators

Has anyone researched or seen research on the ACE scores of educators (or doctors for that matter). We are doing to do a sampling but will be unable to release the data due to confidentiality issues, but would like to have some similar information to share on an HHS collaborative regarding ACEs and the opioid and obesity epidemics, poverty and the like. Hi all, I'm looking for research or data that supports the idea that implementing trauma informed practices/responses within schools improves outcomes across more common metrics such as: avg daily attendance, suspensions, referrals, truancy and graduation rates. Trends in Trauma-informed Organization Development

I am curious to know how members of the group are seeing trauma-informed care being implemented in local/state education agencies or even private education/community support agencies that look at collective impact. Maureen, I am writing a paper on this now for a graduate course I am finishing on learning theories. I will also be doing a presentation using Articulate Storyline that I will publish. I should be finished within a week to 10 days. I might add my research on trauma in children was the bulk of my master's degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis. Hello Jennifer, Suzanne and Lisa, I would love to join in this information exchange. I am a doctoral student and counselor. I have interest in the research gap you mentioned. I too have spent many car rides driving and pondering the intersection of ACES and SPED. I was even looking into TI modified resources which will support their FBAs, IEPs and other documents that travel with them from school to school. I would love to hear your ideas.

Hi Sami, I will do some looking around but often proxy data is used since direct academic achievement success can be tricky at the individual level. Some of the proxy data may be increased attendance (which we know leads to improved academics) or discipline rates, teacher attendance and retention, and other metrics that DO have research behind them that does connect directly to academics. I'd like to read this book. I like different genres, which allows me to learn more information in different areas. I haven't had much time for books lately. Now I'm preparing a research project, and it takes a lot of time. I decided to find this sample, and it helped me. Examples of work on the topic I needed helped me better understand everything, and I hope to prepare properly.
