The Georgetown Law Center on Poverty and Inequality and the National Black Women’s Justice Institute are proud to announce the Trauma-Informed Learning Network for Girls of Color (The Learning Network), which will be launched in late spring.
The Learning Network will provide a secure platform for school system leaders and educators to learn from experts across the country about trauma-informed approaches to girls of color and to engage in peer-to-peer learning.
Registration is free and open to educators, school leadership and support personnel, district leadership, school support staff, school counselors and therapists, and other members of school communities. Members will have access to the following:
- Quarterly webinars, trainings, and other events focused on trauma-informed practices, addressing race and gender bias, cultural competency; and promising interventions; and
- Quarterly webinars, trainings, and other events focused on trauma-informed practices, addressing race and gender bias, cultural competency; and promising interventions;
- A message board in which school systems can pose questions and provide resources to one another and engage in peer-to-peer learning;
- Access to a resource page with recent publications, events, and other news;
- Access to related content from The ACEs Connection, a 17,000-member social network focused on Adverse Childhood Experiences and fostering resilience;
- Annual in-person meeting for members.
The Learning Network’s content will be guided by a youth advisory committee comprised of girls of color, and a steering committee comprised of professionals with expertise in trauma-responsive learning and issues relating to race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and ability.
