Yoga to Support Psychotherapy and other Wellness Practices

Yoga + Mindfulness to Support Psychotherapy and Other Wellness Practices

  • Joy of Yoga (map)

Join trauma-sensitive yoga teachers, Julie Johnson, Alicia Delaney, and Rachel McConville for a combined info session and relay class. Participants can expect a discussion-based understanding of a mind-body approach to healing from interpersonal and systemic trauma and harm caused to marginalized communities.

Of particular value to yoga teachers and students, mindfulness instructors, therapists, healers, counselors, life coaches, and human service providers, this offering will include evidence-based research on how trauma affects the brain, body, needs, and decision-making processes. An overview of yoga’s impact on the process of recovering from trauma will be shared, as well as an intro to trauma-sensitive teaching styles and best practices.

The 75-minute info session and discussion will be followed by a 45-minute relay class taught by Julie, Alicia, and Rachel. Combined instruction will feature different possibilities for integrating mind and body through movement, breathwork, and stillness, all while encouraging curiosity, experimentation, and discovery.

Registered Yoga Teachers with Yoga Alliance can receive up to 2 Yoga Alliance CEUS and all participants will receive a certificate of completion.
