Webinar: Park Equity Policy and Advocacy

Join us for a free webinar featuring speakers from community-based organizations that build power to achieve park equity
New research about the relationship between parks and life expectancy reveals that increasing park acreage in areas that face park deficits and lack trees could lead to significant population-level increases in life expectancy. It also shows that targeted investments in park infrastructure would significantly benefit the health of Latino and Black community members.

In this free webinar, you’ll hear from speakers from community-based organizations, including Promesa Boyle Heights, Pacoima Beautiful, and National Health Foundation. Following a brief discussion of park equity and life expectancy research, these organizations will describe the work they do on park equity and power building in communities of color in Los Angeles County. The new Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation will discuss the implications of the new research findings on park access and life expectancy from a practitioner perspective. Speakers will also discuss policy recommendations that funders, elected officials and park agencies can implement to reverse park inequities. Sign up today!
