Now what? Present social unrest and the COVID crisis are a catalyst to surface the role of how structural racism and historical trauma play in both realities.

Currently, Racism is declared a public health crisis in Michigan and prompts a response from all of us. This new lens raises as many questions as answers.

How do we create safe spaces to have a conversation about USA history of race, racism, racial dehumanization, racial privilege and power, racial subornation, and exploitation and where do we go from here?

This webinar also presents the Family Systems Trauma Model (FST) and its role in helping communities with tools and a framework to help heal historical trauma and structural racism through a family systems lens.

Application is illustrated through community organizing and FST with the Midtown Community and Savannah State University (the oldest Historically Black College and University [HBCU] in Georgia)

Onaje Muid and Dr. Scott Sells will have a candid conversation about racism, social unrest, and the role of the helping professions with the practical application of the FST model to help heal communities.

In this webinar, you will learn:

1. Key statistics on how Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) communities are impacted and traumatized by US racism.

2. Why speaking about racism is such a monumental task for people living in the USA. America the myth vs. America the reality.

3. How to create a safe context to have a racism conversation in your home, work, school, or community organization using β€œAppreciative Inquiry.”
