THE NEUROBIOLOGY OF TRAUMA
Through the Lens of the Nervous System

This trauma-informed workshop is applicable for professionals across fields as well as individuals interested in their own healing process. Within this day-long training participants will gain a deeper understanding of trauma and how it is held in the body. The nervous system will be the lens by which attendees come to recognize trauma presentation. The Adverse Childhood Experiences Scale (ACES) will be discussed and provide an opportunity for understanding the psychological, physical, emotional and spiritual effects experienced among individuals with complex trauma histories.

This workshop is based on the work of Bessel Van der Kolk, Dan Siegel, Peter Levine, Steven Porges, Rick Hanson and others in the field. It will include lecture, video, practice, and exercises designed to increase comprehension of the neuroscience and biological basis of trauma.
