Neuroscience of Empathy: Part 2 and Practice
Learn the Science of Empathy and Practice Empathy during this interactive webinar

Empathic Listening - A fundamental of Nonviolent Communication (NVC).

BACK DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND!

This is a Part 2 follow-up to our popular Neuroscience of Empathic Listening Webinar on Dec 29. This webinar will review and elaborate on some of the main points and provide more time to practice Empathic Listening in small breakout rooms.

We will introduce an NVC empathic listening exercise that is simple and yet so profound as to be life changing; you'll be the judge. Relating empathically has to do with a willingness to listen without giving unrequested advice, preaching, analyzing, prying, diagnosing, etc. All humans are conditioned by their environment, their home life, and their community. Thus, the brain becomes a record of the past. These memories shape our behavior and our interactions with others.

When something happens in our outer world that has a strong emotional charge, the brain takes a snapshot of it, which is called a memory. In neuroscience, there is a process when neurons that fire together wire together creating new neural pathways. There is also a process called pruning, which results in the uncoupling of established neural connections. In this webinar, we will do a simple practice that can prune neural connections that are in the way of care, kindness, and compassion.

Neurons are nerve cells that are electrically charged, and you will get a delightful jolt out of seeing the power of listening, really listening.
