About this Event

NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH CELEBRATION

Today's powerful food sovereignty movement is aimed at decolonizing food systems while combating multiple public health challenges, from food insecurity to heart disease and type 2 diabetes. By exercising food sovereignty, tribal nations are also rebuilding resilient agricultural practices.

The Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health is honored to host Food Justice Organizer Denisa Livingston, MPH (DinΓ© Nation) of the DinΓ© Community Advocacy Alliance, as the keynote speaker for this year's Native American Heritage Month event.

A reception with local Indigenous foods will follow catered by Crystal Proctor of Conoy Creations (Piscataway).
