Finding Emotional Healing From the Collective Trauma of COVID-19

The pandemic is over – or is it?

As helpers and healers, we have been stretched to care for and comfort our people while sustaining ourselves during the biggest health crisis in the past century.

Much has been written and spoken about the medical interventions – masks, vaccines, medications – to address and stop this contagious illness. However, less attention has been given to the mental and emotional aspects of how our brains and hearts and been impacted and how to heal from these injuries.

Recognizing that the COVID-19 pandemic is still very much alive in our communities and in our world, we take stock of how the pandemic has changed us and how we have changed during the past two years and share and practice a variety of activities drawn from psychodrama, sociometry and energy psychology that can be employed for healing and health.

In this three-hour online workshop, with Karen Carnabucci, LCSW, TEP, and Will Halm, RM, TSM-TAE, we will look at how we have fared during this collective trauma and identify strength-building tools and action structures that can be used in a variety of therapeutic, healing and coaching settings.

You will learn:

• The difference between collective trauma and personal trauma and key components of healing collective trauma.

• Simple action structures to support your people in exploring their experience both with the pandemic generally and with COVID-19 in particular.

• Connecting group activities that build positive and authentic relationships within group settings.

• Energetic tools and healing activities to practice self-care and build your natural immunity and teach to others.

In addition to the variety of experiential methods, we will include group sharing and guided imagery as well as didactic teaching, questions, demonstrations and opportunities to bring clinical discussions forward.
