Creating Socially Safe Spaces: Addressing Conflict and Bullying in Today’s Climate

"Creating Safe Conditions for In-Person Learning"

South Ward Promise Neighborhood, The Newark Trust for Education, Teach for America, North Star Academy, RWJ Barnabas, Great Oaks Charter School and New Jersey Community Research Initiative are committed to ensuring that every student shows up to school ready to learn.

As schools confront the reality of returning to in-person learning, they are trying to address safety protocols, teacher shortages, vaccine safety issues, and student conflict. All of this involves a renegotiation of social interactions and physical spaces.

During this period, it is important for educators and parents to learn and discuss how to create a learning environment that is safe, caring, and supportive, so that students can thrive.

We are launching a webinar for educators and parents: Be Seen. Be Heard. Be Present: Creating Safe Conditions for In-Person Learning. The first workshop, Creating Socially Safe Spaces: Addressing Conflict and Bullying in Today’s Climate, will be on November 17th from 6 - 7 pm.

  • Presenters: Amanda Simpson, North Jersey Community Research Initiative
  • Bibi Suares, BOS Innovations, LLC., Positive Gunter,
  • Parent Liaison, Belmont Runyon Elementary School
  • Special North Star Academy Student Moderator!
