15th Annual Cynthia Lockhart-Mummery Conference on Understanding Intergenerational Trauma

Intergenerational trauma is a psychological term which asserts that trauma can be transferred in between generations. After a first generation of survivors experiences trauma, they are able to transfer their trauma to their children and future generations.

You are invited to spend the day with the Tulare County Child Abuse Prevention Council as they present:
- The Honorable Judge Abby Abinanti, the first native person to become a barred attorney in the state of California, as she discusses how restorative justice is just one narrow part of resolving the failure of the legal system to address generational trauma.
- Rene Howitt, author and founder of COPE24, shares her goal to impress upon our youth the need for change by sharing both the pros and cons of how the current educational system works. We must  have an understanding of the current to make successful changes for our future.
- Michael Belh will share his inspirational story of the struggle from Adverse Childhood Experiences(ACEs) to success, from jail to Rutgers and 2 Division Sports, From Addict to Ironman Triathlete.
- and Keynote Speaker, Liz Huntley. This Alabama author who overcame nightmarish events and tremendous adversity during her childhood become a successful attorney, motivational speaker and member of the Auburn University Board of Trustees. Liz will share important information about understanding intergenerational trauma in our work with families and communities.
