YRN &Yolo CASA @ Celebrate Davis

The Yolo Resilience Network and Yolo CASA were one of the many information booths laid out at Community Park in Davis last Thursday night. This is an annual event put on by the Davis City Chamber of Commerce. Besides free brownies, tote bags and pens, this event is a wonderful opportunity for organizations like the Yolo Resilience Network and Yolo CASA to introduce the public to our organizations, show them  what we are doing, and listen to learn what is needed. We used our magnet dart board to help children put a picture to stress and emotions and gave away many of the Stress Color Wheels to families to use at home.

Look for us throughout the summer at other community events in our county as we continue to spread awareness about the ACEs study, the impact of trauma and toxic stress on long-term health and well-being, and how  we can build a resilient Yolo.

Thanks for posting, Julie!  It was a great event; was so great to connect with friends and meet new folks and tell them about our work.  Thank you Tracy for offering to share the Yolo CASA booth and a big shout out to Julie for your amazing organization of  the stress wheel game!

Finally, wanted to share what Lucy Roberts reported about the event - several students who were playing the stress wheel game recognized the stress wheel from classrooms at schools around town. That is a great indication that the work you all are doing with the schools is getting out there. Next steps - parents!  Maybe we need some refrigerator magnets made? Anyone have ideas for someone that wants to pay for producing those?
