YOUTH OPPORTUNITY: 2nd Annual Innovation Idea Lab on 3/23

Our Yolo County Mental Health Services Act team is collaborating with Solano and Sacramento counties to host the 2nd Annual Innovation Idea Lab.  This very successful event is a project of the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission’s Youth Innovation Committee.  It is an opportunity to hear the voice and choice of our Youth Leaders regarding preventative mental health services and strategies to increase the resilience of young people.  In addition to the invitation for Youth Leaders to participate in the event scheduled for March 23rd in Suisun City, CA, a request for Multi-media Voice submissions is also being made.  Please see the attached flyer and invitation to participate.

Our youth have two ways to shine:  Through participation in the Idea Lab and by their artful expressions.  Leaders who participate will have opportunities to participate in other state, regional and local events scheduled for May and beyond.

We are seeking 10 – 20 Youth Leaders ages 15 – 25 years old, and 4 – 7 Adult allies to participate in this event.  Leaders may be assisted with transportation as needed.  Further, Leaders interested in facilitating a segment of this state organized event can participate in training sessions in preparation.  The first of these is scheduled for March 2nd.  Our Youth Leaders may participate by phone conferencing.

Please assist us in identifying Youth Leaders for this event.  By now we know that the best prevention and intervention strategies are those identified by the group/community for which they are designed. If you have further questions or concerns, please contact Tessa Smith at Tessa.Smith@yolocounty.org or (530) 666-8546.
