YCCA PROGRAMS: YCCA services during COVID-19

In response to the COVID-19 situation, YCCA has re-tooled our approach to providing service so that we can continue to do so in a way that is safe for our staff and for the communities that we serve. Please note and share these changes so that people can contact us if they are needing service. Below is a summary of services, a description of our approach, and phone numbers to call.
  • Healthy Families Yolo County (HFYC): Home visiting program for pregnant/new moms and their infant children
    Contact: Marisol Andrade at 530-902-5983
HFYC is continuing to enroll new families and provide one-on-one support. We are working with families to provide virtual support visits. Services take place on whichever platform the participant has access to and wants to utilize (FaceTime, Snapchat, Skype, phone, etc.). All visits whether by voice or video are comprehensive in nature and touch on all essential elements of our standard protocols. HFYC staff are working closely with our partners at CommuiCare Health Clinics and First 5 Yolo to ensure that participants in the Road to Resilience program continue to access our collaborative services, also in a virtual manner, all the way through to enrollment if the participant chooses.
  • Family Resource Center Services
Contact: Jose Ceja at 530-902-6381 or Lupita Lugo at 530-902-1518
We are continuing to provide enrollment, retention, and access/navigation services as usual but all by phone.
YCCA staff provided a list to Yolo Food Bank of all of our West Sacramento elderly clients and others who need food delivery service, in order to enroll them in Yolo Food Bank’s food delivery service.
West Sacramento Family Resource Center Friday food distribution continues at its same location. Yolo Food Bank volunteers are staffing the distribution.
  • Housing & Homelessness Prevention Services
    Contact: Elise Rietz at 530-902-9288
YCCA’s Housing staff continue to work closely with the City of West Sacramento’s Homeless Coordinator to identify and place those needing shelter in motels and others needing housing related assistance. We are working with clients by phone and continue to assist with placements as well as support in working with landlords and utility companies. We are staying current on news related to housing and utility payments and are working with local agencies to keep people informed and housed.
  • Nurturing Parenting Program parenting classes
    Contact: Nancy Ledesma at 530-902-6850
  • YCCA staff reached out to every family that has attended NPP or other Family Engagement Activities to check-in with them, ensure they have the information they need related to staying safe, and to inquire about resources that would be useful to them. In partnership with First 5 Yolo, YCCA is creating “activity packages” to be dropped off at families’ homes and which will include parenting guides, materials for parent-child activities and child only activities, books, and hygiene products. Our goal is to drop off activity packages bi-weekly with additional activities and materials. Every day, we send out a new text messages with activity ideas. We are developing an Instagram Live Parent Engagement / Social Hour. Additionally, because we had two NPP courses currently running when the rules about gathering were put in place, YCCA staff are completing remaining NPP curriculum one on one, with enrolled families, using a video platform of the client’s choice. We are working on a virtual classroom format for new NPP classes scheduled to start up this Spring.

  • Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act for Youth (WIOA): Youth career readiness
    Contact: Eric Blair at 530-902-6027
YCCA staff have contacted all WIOA participants to determine whether or not they are able to continue working at their current placement. Youth placed at work experience sites that continue to operate, are continuing their placements. YCCA staff are supporting them and the businesses remotely, by phone. Staff are checking in once per week and as needed with youth who were unable to continue their placements, in order to support other career advancement activities and their welfare in general. We are providing current and instructive information to participants about keeping themselves safe and healthy and we are connecting them to essential resources as needed.
